March is a time to celebrate progress and reflect on the work still needed to achieve gender equity in tech. As we recognize Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day (March 8), it’s essential to highlight the role of women in STEM and the importance of mentorship in shaping the future of the industry.

The State of Women in STEM

Women have made significant strides in STEM fields, but challenges remain:

  • Women make up 28% of the STEM workforce (AAUW), with even lower representation in engineering and computer science.
  • In tech leadership roles, women hold only about 24% of executive positions (Deloitte).
  • Companies with diverse leadership outperform their peers by 27% in profitability (McKinsey & Company).

Despite these statistics, the future is promising. More organizations are investing in mentorship programs, scholarships, and initiatives to support women pursuing STEM careers.

How Counterpart Supports Women in Tech

At Counterpart, we believe in leading by example. Our commitment to fostering an inclusive tech industry includes:

  • Mentoring women entering or transitioning into tech—through professional guidance and real-world projects.
  • Partnering with organizations that support diversity in technology, amplifying opportunities for women in the field.
  • Creating an inclusive workplace culture where diverse perspectives drive innovation.

By investing in mentorship and opening doors for future female tech leaders, we’re not just supporting individuals—we’re strengthening the industry as a whole.

Looking Ahead

As we celebrate Women’s History Month, let’s continue to champion women in STEM by supporting mentorship, advocating for equal opportunities, and recognizing the talent shaping the future of technology.
