We are excited and honored to announce that our friends at Fight For Life Foundation have been nominated for a Techpoint Mira Award! Their Building Dreams App was nominated for “Innovation of the Year“. This nomination is for a brand new way of doing things that revolutionizes, advances, or creates new tech industries and fields.
Building Dreams is an innovative technology platform that is leveling the playing field for underserved schools, students, families, and communities. It is attacking the Social Determinants of Health and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) that contribute to parents and children being unable to elevate in life socially and emotionally. The program blends evidence-based Social and Emotional Learning with a state-of-the-art “gamified” platform targeted toward student behavior management. Students are awarded scores for their behavior and participation. The app then alerts teachers, healthcare providers, and social workers when students may be at risk for abuse, neglect, or physical or mental health issues, so they can intervene appropriately.
The primary goals of the program are to reduce student’s emotional distress; reduce conduct problems; improve academic performance; improve teacher classroom management skills; increase parental engagement; improve school culture; and connect students and families to the care and services they need. They also expect long-term outcomes are improved test scores, increased attendance and graduation rates, disrupt the school to prison pipeline, improved family, community, and economic conditions for underserved communities. All of this resulting in the empowerment of everyone to lead a self-sufficient life because of their ability to cope with everyday stressors and still make positive decisions that produce positive outcomes for them and their family.
The Innovation of the Year award honors scientific achievements, R&D efforts and other trailblazing discoveries. The emphasis is on new technologies that have the potential to change a market, an industry, an economy or even the world. Learn more here.
